A 2-day Elders Gathering for 5 Elders per Treaty Area, as well as the 3 Treaty Area Elders Advisors was held in Canmore near Stoney Nation in Treaty 7 territory on August 15 - 16, 2013. The Elders Gathering was held to launch the strategy development in a traditional manner and to validate data and planning through ceremony.
The Elders also had an opportunity to receive education about prescription drug misuse and provided insight into the issue within First Nations communities.
